Aliyah Logan sets school record, NM State wraps up track season at WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships


Seattle, Washington. – The final day of the 2022 WAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships has come and gone and the Aggies have taken some hardware to show off. Aliyah Logan joined Phethisang Makhethe into the winners’ circle after taking gold in the 100m hurdles while also setting a new school record. The 4×100 Relay, Grace Pendarvis (200 meter dash) and Terice Steen (400 m hurdles) placed second, earning NM State eight points apiece.

NM State placed sixth overall with 74 total points across the 21 events. The Aggies scored double-digit points in three events (100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, hammer throw) while in nine others (100m sprint, 200m sprint, 400m, 10,000m, 4×100, 4×400, discus throw, javelin throw, triple jump) charts scored. .

Makiya Moore placed fourth in the discus throw with a mark of 47.21 m and earned five points for NM State’s standings.

Valissa Braun set a personal best with a wind-adjusted jump of 11.98 (+1.5 m/s) and finished fourth.

4×100 relays

The Aggie squadron of Sierra Brewer, Grace Pendarvis, Jhana Downieand Terice Steen combined for a time of 45.83, finished second and added eight points to the total.

100m hurdles
Aliyah Logan turned out, setting a personal best and setting a new school record with a time of 13.54, eclipsing her previous best of 13.8x, which previously gave Logan third place in the NM State record book.

400m run
Jhana Downie made it to fourth place in a crowded field, scoring five points with a time of 55.82.

100 meter run
Grace Pendarvis finished fourth and scored five points for the Crimson & White with a wind-adjusted time of 11.67 (+2.1 m/s).

400m hurdles

The Aggies place two student athletes in the top eight, Terice Steen took second place with a time of 1:00.72 Israel Swanson Adding two points after seventh place with a time of 1:03.03.

200 meter dash
Grace Pendarvis took second fourth place that day with a wind-adjusted time of 24.20 (+1.7 m/s).


In a deep field with 43 individuals, Mia Regan posted the best time for the Aggies, crossing the line in tenth with a time of 16:45.62. Richelle Sandin set a new personal best, beating her previous time by over forty seconds, recording a mark of 17:25.86.

Various student-athletes from NM State will see their times stack up from the WAC championships with hopes of advancing to the NCAA Regionals.
