Army Ten-Miler orders road closures near Rosslyn and Pentagon City this weekend

The annual Army Ten-Miler race will result in numerous road closures in Arlington this weekend.

Runners will race through portions of Rosslyn, DC and Pentagon City, beginning and ending near the Pentagon.

“The 38th Annual Army Ten Miler Race will be held on Sunday, October 9,” Arlington County Police Department said in a news release last week. “The race begins at 7:50 a.m. on Route 110, crosses the Key Bridge into the District of Columbia, returns north to Virginia via the 14th Street Bridge on I-395 HOV, and finishes at the Pentagon Reservation.”

“The Arlington County Police Department, Virginia State Police, United States Park Police, Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) and the Pentagon Force Protection Agency will be conducting road closures to allow for the race,” the ACPD said.

Planned road closures include portions of Army Navy Drive, S. Eads Street, Route 110, northbound I-395, and N. Lynn Street and Long Bridge Drive.

The Metro plans to operate on a normal Sunday schedule after the race starts while opening the Pentagon station, directing participants to use the Pentagon City station instead.

Additionally, on Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., there will be no access to or exit from the Pentagon North parking lot and Boundary Channel Drive, only for Pentagon employees and Pentagon Memorial guests Be available from the Pentagon South parking lot, accessible via Columbia Pike and S. Joyce Street.

Arrive on race day

Runners and accompanying staff are encouraged to use multimodal and ridesharing services as parking is limited in the area. A designated ride-sharing drop-off and pick-up zone has been established on both sides of S. Hayes Street, between Army Navy Drive and S. 12th Street. Spectators are advised to use the subway and other forms of public transportation. The Pentagon and Pentagon City subway stations (blue and yellow lines) are within walking distance to the start and finish lines and will open at 7:00 am on race day.

The public should expect an increased police presence in the area and motorists are urged to follow law enforcement orders, watch for closures and be alert for increased foot traffic. Motorists should look out for temporary “No Parking” signs. Illegally parked vehicles may be fined or towed away. If your vehicle is towed off a public road, call the Emergency Communications Center at 703-558-2222.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility

The safety of runners and spectators remains a top priority for law enforcement. The public is encouraged to be vigilant and vigilant, particularly in areas with large crowds. Suspicious behavior, objects, vehicles and unattended packages should be reported immediately to the police for investigation. Spectators and runners can report information directly to police personnel stationed throughout the course or call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
