Holiday Performances, Christmas Shows in the DC Area – NBC4 Washington


As the days get colder, this year look for new vacation activities to enjoy with loved ones. In December, explore the following performances in the DC area.

Charles Dickens’ beloved story “A Christmas Carol” will be on stage at Ford’s Theater from November 24th to December 27th. Directed by Jose Carrasquillo and adapted by Michael Wilson, the theatrical performance offers traditional Christmas carols and a festive mood for the family. The piece lasts 75 minutes without a break, and tickets cost between $ 54 and $ 109.

This holiday season, the Washington Ballet is presenting the classic winter wonderland performance “The Nutcracker” with over 100 dancers, including students from the Washington School of Ballet. In 1882 Georgetown Tchaikovsky’s incredible film score plays to life at the Warner Theater. Tickets are available through December 26th and cost between $ 49 and $ 145.

The National Symphony Orchestra presents Handel’s Messiah at the Kennedy Center under the direction of Gianandrea Noseda. The audience can enjoy music from Part I of the Messiah, including “Rejoice”, “A Child Is Born For Us”, and “Comfort For You”. Tickets to the performance range from $ 15 to $ 89 and run from December 16 through December 19.

A Candlelight Christmas features the two-time Grammy winners and the Washington Chorus for a Christmas concert. It is a 75-minute festive musical celebration with a procession and sing-along. The performances will take place from December 19-22. Tickets range from $ 15 to $ 101.
