An off-duty police officer with the Federal Bureau of Investigations was involved in a shooting in Washington, DC Saturday afternoon.

An FBI spokesman said the shooting occurred at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on I-295 North in Washington, DC

The spokesman said the agency is investigating the incident.

“The FBI is investigating a shooting involving an off-duty FBI officer that occurred on Saturday, August 27 at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 295 North in Washington, DC. The FBI takes all shootings involving our personnel seriously. In accordance with FBI guidelines, the shooting incident is being investigated by the FBI’s Division of Inspections. The verification process is thorough and objective and will be conducted as quickly as possible under the circumstances,” said an FBI spokesman.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department said no injuries were reported in the shooting.

According to FOX 5, pictures from the scene of the incident show several bullet holes in a windshield.

I-295 North was closed for some time Saturday but has reopened.
