The Oregon women’s golf team named Big West Conference Player of the Year on Friday.
Brittany Shin, who will be junior for the 2022 season, signed with Oregon on Friday. She was the top player of the Big West last season in her sophomore year with Cal State Fullerton.
Shin will be giving the Ducks a deep roster for next season as Oregon can return all of its players who led the Ducks to an eleventh place in the NCAA championships back in May.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Brittany to our program,” said Oregon’s trainer Derek Radley in a press release. “She has proven she can compete and win at college level, and we love what she brings to our team both on and off the course. Brittany is very talented and we can’t wait to work with her here in Eugene. “
Shin led the Titans on average scoring in 2020 and 2021. She won two tournaments last season, finished fourth in the conference championships, and qualified as an individual for the NCAA Stanford Regional. Shin had an average of 73.80 points last season after an average of 73.67 in the 2020 season shortened by the pandemic.
The addition of Shin gives the Ducks a lot of flexibility in their lineup for the next season. All five players who played in the NCAA tournament are returning for Oregon, including All-American Briana Chacon from the second team, in 2020 All-American Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen and Ching-Tzu Chen, who played at the NCAA meeting in Oregon Top finisher was. The All-Pac-12 selection Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu and Tze-Han (Heather) Lin have also returned. Radley has also signed Baylee Hammericksen of Medford for the upcoming season.
