In Upper Marlboro, Maryland, an off-duty officer accidentally shot herself and herself on Wednesday.
The officer responded to a call from a friend who said she was being robbed, police said.
“The officer was in the area and called 911 to get other officers to respond to the location,” said Malik Aziz, Prince George police chief.
The off duty officer barely made it to the house where the friend was when her gun accidentally fired. “For now, it looks like the officer accidentally fired her gun when she was retrieving her gun and hit herself once,” said Aziz. “She is out of surgery and in stable condition.”
The officer responded to a house where a man cuts hair for a living.
“People take advantage of people. He’s getting older and my brother is not in the best of health and people are taking advantage of people, ”his sister said. “I don’t know what happened there.”
The boss said his top priority is making sure his officer recovers.
“An officer sustained a gunshot wound and has come out of a very serious surgery that is now in a stable condition, and we are more and more concerned about her recovery and well-being at this point,” he said.
