WASHINGTON, July 14, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – ShotSpotter, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSTI), a leader in technology solutions for precision police that enable law enforcement agencies to more effectively respond, investigate, and stop crimes existed Today opened a Washington DC branch including an Incident Review Center (IRC) monitoring gunfire for law enforcement agencies in the US, the Caribbean and South Africa.

The announcement was made at an event today hosted by ShotSpotter President and CEO Ralph A. Clark with special spokeswoman Muriel Bowser, Washington DC Mayor.

ShotSpotter will now have IRC centers on both coasts, Washington, DC and at its headquarters in Silicon Valley, providing additional capacity and critical resilience. The center, staffed by highly qualified acoustics experts, checks probable shots, which are recognized and classified by an artificial intelligence-controlled system. These auditors then analyze the sounds and waveforms and either send an alert to local law enforcement to generate a police response, or reject it. The entire transaction, from the first exchange of fire to the alert, takes less than 60 seconds.

“As we continue to work with the community to build a safer and stronger DC, ShotSpotter helps us focus and use resources to save lives and remove guns from our streets,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington DC . “By opening an office in DC, ShotSpotter joins a growing list of technology companies to identify the district as a hub for technical talent and resources.”

“Gun violence is one of the nation’s greatest challenges today, but advances are being made with intelligent technology to strategically combat this growing epidemic,” said Ralph A. Clark, President and CEO of ShotSpotter. “By opening a second Incident Review Center and office in the district, ShotSpotter is expanding the capacity of the response centers and strengthening relationships with key industrial and federal institutions that share our goal of reducing gun violence and increasing community security.”

ShotSpotter has located this second facility in the country’s capital because of its proximity to key organizations that share ShotSpotter’s goal of aggressively combating gun violence, including the federal government, the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF), the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Department of Homeland Security, and the National Police Foundation. It also provides closer contact with law enforcement customers and prospects in the East Coast and Latin America.
