South Dakota Men’s Basketball hosts the Air Force at the Sanford Pentagon on Veterans Day


SIOUX FALLS, SD – The University of South Dakota will host the United States Air Force Academy at the Sanford Pentagon in a men’s basketball game outside of conference on Veterans Day, Nov. 11 at 1:00 p.m.

Ticket sales begin on October 19 at 10 a.m. Veterans get free entry to the game. Additional tickets for family members and veteran guests are $ 10.

“This will be one of the most extraordinary events we’ve ever hosted at the Sanford Pentagon,” said Jesse Smith, vice president of the Sanford Sports Complex. “We always love playing USD at the Pentagon, and it is an honor to have the United States Air Force on our floor, especially on a day that means so much to all of the men and women who serve our country. “

After the South Dakota vs. Air Force game, the Sioux Falls Skyforce will play a regular season competition at the Pentagon.

This will be South Dakota’s twelfth appearance at the Sanford Pentagon. The Coyotes have a record of 5-6 on the Heritage Court. USD goes after a 14-11 season and ends with an 11-4 record in the Summit League.

“Playing at the Air Force Academy on Veterans Day is going to be special,” said Todd Lee, South Dakota basketball head coach. “We look forward to playing in Sioux Falls at a world-class facility in front of our great fans and alumni.”

This will be the Air Force’s first visit to the Sanford Pentagon. The Falcons finished last season 5:20 but took a 68:66 win in Nevada.

“It’s been a great start to the season,” said Joe Scott, Air Force head coach. “We’re looking forward to playing against a quality opponent on a very special day in a beautiful location.”

The matchup kicks off the NCAA Division I 2021-22 event schedule at the Sanford Pentagon.

  • November 11 – South Dakota vs. Air Force
  • November 12: The Invitational features some of the most highly decorated programs in college basketball for women. Arizona meets Louisville at 3:30 p.m., followed by South Carolina vs. South Dakota at 6:00 p.m.
  • 22.-24. November: The Crossover Classic is a three-day men’s basketball event featuring Washington, George Mason, Nevada, and South Dakota State. The game starts on all three days at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
  • December 11th: Creighton vs. BYU
