SIOUX FALLS, SD – South Dakota State meets St. Bonaventure in a non-conference men’s basketball game on Nov. 15 at the Sanford Pentagon.

Ticket sales begin September 13 at 10am.

“We continue to add quality and immersive Division I matchups to our schedule at the Sanford Pentagon, giving fans the opportunity to experience a combination of new teams and local favorites,” said Jesse Smith, vice president of Sanford Sports. “Both St. Bonaventure and South Dakota State have had an incredibly successful season and we look forward to seeing them compete on Heritage Court.”

This is the 18th time the state of South Dakota has played at the Sanford Pentagon. Last season, the Jackrabbits competed in the Crossover Classic for the second year in a row, finishing the three-day event with a record 2-1. As a member of the Summit League, SDSU has enjoyed a historic 30-5 season that included an undefeated conference season (18-0), one Summit League tournament championship and a sixth NCAA tournament appearance.

“The opportunity to work with Sanford and play at the Pentagon, which is one of the best facilities in the country, is another great opportunity,” said Eric Henderson, South Dakota State head coach. “Our opponent is St Bonaventure with the history and tradition they have, that suits us really well. We like to challenge ourselves in the non-conference to prepare for the conference game and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”

This is the first trip to Heritage Court for St. Bonaventure, members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Bears finished the 2021-22 season with a 21-10 record and reached the semifinals of the NIT tournament before losing to eventual champion Xavier.

“We’re excited for the opportunity to play South Dakota State at the Sanford Pentagon,” said St. Bonaventure head coach Mark Schmidt. “It is a venue that hosts prestigious college basketball events each year and we look forward to making our first trip there. We will have a great challenge when we face one of the best mid-major programs in the country for another fixed date in our non-conference schedule.”

This will be the first meeting between the state of South Dakota and St. Bonaventure.

Since opening in 2013, the Sanford Pentagon has hosted 63 Division I men’s college basketball games. The Pentagon has also hosted 16 NCAA Division I women’s collegiate basketball games, including a double header last season with eventual national champions South Carolina, Final Four runners Louisville, Sweet 16 runners South Dakota and the NCAA Tournament Qualifiers Arizona.

This season, Baylor will face Gonzaga in a repeat of the 2021 men’s national championship game, and South Carolina, the reigning women’s national champion, meets South Dakota State, the defending WNIT champion.
